The Mountaineer has been recalled 23 times. The 1999 model year has been involved in the most campaigns.

Recalls are free repairs, initiated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or Mercury itself, for a widespread safety problem. They might be a pain, but a recalled problem is better than an ignored one.
